Maximize Your Fall Storage!

Created on Sep 13, 2013

Fall is the second busiest season to get organized and one of the most common problems standing between you and an organized home is the ability to maximize your storage space. Add productivity to any area of the home with these five simple tips.

  1. Plan ahead.
Put aside quality time to sort through and pack away out of season clothes, linens and sporting goods.
  2. Have some fun!
Play your favorite music, have friends over to help and think of a way to reward yourself once you’re finished!
  3. Get busy sorting.
Whether it’s your closet, pantry, garage or basement, you have to sort belongings first. By grouping like items together, you’ll have a better idea of what you need to get rid of and what stays.
  4. Pack away seasonal items.
Use storage containers, garment bags and quilted china protectors to keep your belongings safe until next season. Be sure you label them before you tuck them away so they’re easy to find.
  5. Enjoy your newly organized space.
To help maintain it, use the one in one out rule. That means, if you purchase a new pair of shoes, a handbag or new garment, be sure you’re willing to let one go!

As the seasons change, so do your storage needs. Make the transition from summer to fall an organized one by adding Organized Living custom closets to your home today.

I planned the time with my kids and we actually had a blast! The reward was a trip to the local amusement park Halloween themed party, but truly they loved helping sort and purge. My kids reminisced more than I did!
