Best Tips for Getting Your Client Holiday Ready

The holiday season is the perfect time for your clients to create a more organized, refreshed home. Guide them through decluttering three key areas—the kid's room, kitchen, and primary bedroom—with tips that make the process manageable and even enjoyable.

Revamping the Kid's Room

Encourage clients to involve kids in organizing by framing it as a choice-driven, family activity. Suggest they allow children to choose between keeping or donating specific toys, especially when it’s time to make space for incoming holiday gifts. This not only gives kids control but teaches valuable lessons about sharing and reducing waste.

For clothing, have clients sort items by size, condition, and season. Any clothes that are outgrown or gently used can be donated locally. Reinforce the idea that sustainable practices start at home, and remind them that donating supports families in need.

Kitchen Clean-Up for Holiday Cooking

A decluttered, efficient kitchen is a game-changer for holiday hosting and cooking marathons. Start by having clients sort pantry and refrigerator items, discard anything expired, and consider donations for non-perishables they’re unlikely to use. With excess goods, recommend donating to a local food bank or shelter, turning the holiday prep into a giving opportunity.

Next, guide them in setting up functional zones and grouping items like utensils, spices, and baking supplies where they’ll be easiest to reach. This arrangement will simplify meal prep and make it easier to keep the space organized after holiday gatherings.

Holiday preparations provide a great excuse for a closet refresh, and clients can use this opportunity to create space for potential holiday gifts. Encourage clients to do an initial purge of items that are out of style, no longer fit, or haven’t been worn recently. Suggest the hanger-flip technique: hang items backward, flipping them only after wearing them. By year’s end, any unflipped hangers identify clothes they’re likely ready to donate.

When items are in good condition, suggest donating to local charities that accept clothing. As a bonus, encourage clients to add any must-have replacements or wish list items to share with loved ones ahead of the holidays.
