Reduce, Reuse, Rehome

Parting ways with pieces that carry memories can be hard to do. Clients tend to hold onto more items than they need, and the concept of "rehoming" can be hard to get across. Here are some tips on how to help your client rehome pieces and make space for new memories to be made.

Help separate the memory from the piece. Most times, giving them the control to choose if something stays or goes helps them let go of pieces they no longer need. Reducing the number of items your client has, helps create a more functional and clutter-free space.

Reuse

Reusing items can be tricky but not impossible. All it takes is a little creativity and thinking outside the box. If your client is on the lower budget of a project, there are solutions to help them achieve their organizational goals. If buying organizers isn’t in the plan, consider digging for old shoe boxes or containers.

Items that your client has decided to part with can be donated to several centers. Goodwill, Salvation Army, and local shelters and thrift stores are a few good options. This not only helps eliminate waste but helps your client feel like they are doing good and gives the well-loved item a new purpose!
